  • Nursery Terms and Conditions During Bad Weather

During bad weather, on arrival to Nursery you may find the gates are closed, due to the car park being unsafe to park or walk on - if this is the case, please park at the top of the driveway, and staff will endeavour to create a safe gritted pathway through for you and children to walk.

If you are in doubt please telephone the Nursery.

Nursery Terms & Conditions During Bad Weather:

Closure of the Nursery is always our last resort however during bad weather we will constantly assess the accessibility of the Nursery and the general safety and wellbeing of children in our care.

In the event that we are not able to open Nursery on any day, our daily rate will be refunded against your next invoice. If Nursery opens but has to close during the day for any reason, your daily rate will be charged as normal. Please allow extra travelling time during bad weather as late collections are charged at an hourly rate of £6.50.

  • Chicken Pox - Advice for Parents

Chicken pox begins with a sudden onset of slight fever, feeling unwell, and an itchy rash will start to appear with flat red spots. These spots will then become raised and full of fluid.
Chicken pox is infectious, and is spread by virus from the nose and throat. The fluid from the spots is also infectious. During this time the infected child should rest, and be made as comfortable as possible.

Calamine lotion is recommended to soothe the itching of the spots, until they scab over. It is advised that reduced amount of clothing should be put on the child, and paracetamol maybe prescribed to help the child to feel more comfortable.

The recommended exclusion period for Chicken pox within the Nursery setting is at least 5 days from the onset of the rash, or until the spots have all crusted over.

For parents/Carers who have been in contact with a child with chickenpox, and are pregnant are advised to seek medical advice, as this can be more serious.

  • Information for School Leavers

You may find the following information useful a your child’s reaches School age:

Some points to consider when preparing you child for this move are as follows:

Let your child be as actively involved with school preparations as possible, making them aware of any visits that may take place to school.

Use their teachers name in conversation.
When choosing a lunchbox, uniform, book bag, etc let your child get involved in the process. This will give the child the opportunity to familrise themselves with these items, as well as making themselves feel special.

At Nursery we spend alot of time promoting personal hygiene, this is something that schools are keen for children to do themselves. Parents can support their child in advance of school by giving lots of encouragement and practice with hand washing, going to the toilet, and getting dressed and undressed.

At meal and snack times encourage your child to use a knife and a fork, and provide opportunity for them to practice open items such as yogurts, and drink bottles. It maybe worth checking with the school your child will be attending to see if there are any items that they do not allow.

Encourage your child to recognise their own name, as items will be labelled at school.
It is important that all your child’s information is passed on to the school ,including emergency contact numbers, who will be collecting, and requirements your child may have such as allergies. The Nursery will pass on your child’s profile, which will contain information about your child development.

At the end of your child’s first week they are going to be extremely tired, and although they may have been eager to start school, there may be a little resistance. This is completely natural, and very common upon this transition. It will take the child at least 3-4 weeks to find their feet, and start to feel comfortable in this new environment.

If you have any concerns, speak to your child’s teacher as soon as possible.

We hope you have found this to be helpful, and we wish your child a fantastic start to their new school, and to the journey they are about to embark on.

Finally, if you havent already done so, please can you notify us as soon as possible of your child's last Nursery day if they are leaving us this year to go to School this year.

    Thank you!

  •  What do I do if my child is sick?

We fully understand the difficulties that can arise for parents if your child is unwell or needs to be collected from Nursery.

We appreciate that all parents have commitments, but we would ask for your co-operation to prevent other children from suffering as a result of illness being spread throughout the Nursery.

Should your child become ill with sickness or diarrhoea, we ask for the child to be clear from these symptoms for 48 hours, and they have returned to a normal diet, before returning to Nursery.

As a Nursery setting we operate within guidelines issued by the Hereford and Worcestershire Health Protection Team. These guidelines notify us of the exclusion periods and signs/symptoms of various childhood illnesses, which we are obliged to adhere to. These are called ‘Infection Control Guidelines For Day Care Facilities. ’

If your child has been treated for an illness, please ensure the staff are given sufficient information about the illness/medication upon the child’s return to Nursery. Medication can be administered on the condition it has been prescribed by the child’s GP and is brought into Nursery in the original packaging, that is clearly labelled.
